On the 7th of August, Eklipz Crew 002; made up of DHS team leaders Ben, Jack Turu, Kelsey, Libby, Jack Lau, Olivia and Jacob were fortunate to come 2nd in the South Island NZCaf Hip-Hop competition in Christchurch. With only 2 months of training, Ben (13) choreographed the routine that enabled the team to be selected to travel to Wellington on 18th and 19th Sept for the Nationals. For three members of the team, this was their first ever competition; with one only who learnt to dance in only 2 months! This is a great achievement for the crew.
Prior to the Christchurch competition, the team and supporting families fundraised to get them to Christchurch. Now, we are planning on ‘how’ they can get to Wellington to represent DHS.
We have some fundraising plans already in place, but are seeking support from the wider DHS families and students, the community and businesses to help the team. The cost to get to Wellington is $2,500 and we only have 5 weeks to raise this amount.
We are asking for donations; $5, $10, $20+ from anyone who would like to donate to help this team.
Costs consist of return flights, accommodation, competition registration, food and van hire. We have looked around extensively for the most competitive rates for the trip. We have decided to fly otherwise we will need an extra nights’ accommodation if we travel by ferry.
Donations can be credited to;
Account Name: Eklipz
Bank: Nelson Credit Union South
No: 03-1762-0071969-02
Because of the tight time frame, we have to book flights early (for cheaper rates), accommodation and van.
Thank you
