From TERM THREE 2010 DHS will be looking to recruit youth between 8-11yrs to be considered to be part of a Junior Hip-Hop Crew. This crew would travel to Hip-Hop Competitions regionally and nationally over 2011. 

Recently, DHS entered their own Eklipz001 Dance Crew into the Shakedown Hip-Hop Comps here in Nelson. Eklipz001 won their category! Because if their success, we are looking to develop a Junior Crew. Unlike regular DHS classes, this crew will learn more specific routines in order to work as a tight team. 

PLEASE NOTE: This will mean that there will no longer be usual DHS classes open to the public on Tuesday evenings, participants must go through a selection process. 

The process for selection will be by way of ‘audition’ or ‘try-outs’ for the team. 

At this class we will teach a basic routine. Once the participants have learnt the routine; they will perform this back as a group (not individually). We will assess each participant on; 

1. How quick they pick up the sets
2. Their energy and attitude
3. Their confidence level
4. Their interpretation of the music (expressing each lyric and sound in the music)
5. Their willingness to FOCUS on the task at hand
6. Their ability to work as a team
7. Positive behaviour during training 

We want to ensure that those who try out can see the positive out of giving it a go, rather than feeling that they have failed if they are not selected? 

There are only up to 20 places for this class over term three.  Out of this 20, 7 will eventually be selected into the crew; but the remaining 13 will still be a part of the training group. 

If your child is interested in ‘giving it a go’, we will be meeting running the try-outs at the following;
